Did God Create Evil?

Often we things go wrong in life there is a thought that somehow God had a hand in creating the evil. There are a couple of things I would like us to look at today.

First, Jesus tells us that in the world there will be tribulation but note that He tells us that He has overcome these things.. John 16:33 "These things I have spoken to you, so that in Me you may have peace. In the world you have tribulation, but take courage; I have overcome the world."

God created us with the ability to choose between right and wrong. Gen 2:15-17 15 Then the Lord God took the man and put him into the garden of Eden to cultivate it and keep it. 16 The Lord God commanded the man, saying, "From any tree of the garden you may eat freely; 17 but from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil you shall not eat, for in the day that you eat from it you will surely die." NASU

Adam & Eve didn’t need to know about evil. God did not create evil, He did create the potential for evil, Adam & Eve chose the "off-limits" option.

God created a "perfect world" Evil and suffering are a result of Adam’s sin Romans 5: 12 When Adam sinned, sin entered the world. Adam's sin brought death, so death spread to everyone, for everyone sinned. Holy Bible, NLT

Result: Rom 8:21-25 22 For we know that the whole creation groans and suffers the pains of childbirth together until now. 23 And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body. 24 For in hope we have been saved, but hope that is seen is not hope; for who hopes for what he already sees? 25 But if we hope for what we do not see, with perseverance we wait eagerly for it. NASU

But why let this happen? "Young couples often wrestle with the potential for birth defects and other dangers as they weight the decision to have children. Most choose to go ahead in spite of the risks. Why? Because of a desire to have a relationship with someone in their own image. God made the same choice. God did not create evil. He did create the potential for evil to enter the world, because it was the only way He could create the potential for genuine goodness and genuine love. But it was human beings, in our own free will, who brought the potential evil into reality.

I hope that today that God did not create the evil in the world. He did however give His so that we could receive the gift of eternal life in heaven (where there will be no evil).
